CONSTRUCTION TECHNOLOGY PROGRAM

Introduction:

In the Construction Technology Program , the design of the constructions, their drawing with computer aided programs, the making of the quantity and exploration works, the soil and concrete tests are taught practically. In addition, training is provided in an educational approach that covers the entire construction sector operating in different areas of the construction sector such as highways, excavation, filling and port works.

The aim of the Construction Technology program is to train white-collar technical intermediate people who are technically equipped about all building types, are aware of occupational health and safety, can read construction projects, can make static calculations, can make estimation, quantity, progress payment and all necessary technical controls. To train technical personnel intermediate people who are equipped with both technical knowledge and managerial knowledge, who have command of all processes of construction projects, who can manage time, cost and quality processes, who are aware of professional responsibility, business ethics and ethical rules.

Education:

Construction Department, Construction Technology associate degree program covers a 2-year education. It continues its education and training as a formal education. During 4 semesters, students have to complete 120 ECTS compulsory and elective courses and complete a 30-day summer internship.

In the 2019-2020 academic year, the general quota of the department is 40 students, and the number of foreign quotas for students coming from abroad is 15. Foreign students are subjected to the Turkish preparatory program for 1 year at the Turkish Teaching Application and Research Centre (Karaelmas TOMER). Starting from the 2020-2021 academic year, an optional English preparatory program is planned for those who are accepted to the program. According to the data of March 4, 2020, the total number of students enrolled in the program is 142 and 17 of them are foreign nationals.

Our students who graduate from our school are entitled to receive the "Associate Degree" with all their recognized powers. Graduates of the program, with the title of Technician, work as technical intermediate staff between Engineers and Technicians in private and public institutions.

Students who successfully complete the Construction Technology associate degree program can transfer vertically to the following undergraduate programs determined by OSYM for this department, when they are successful in the Vertical Transfer Exam opened by OSYM.

Our Mission:

Our Associate Degree Program Educational Objectives:

Knowledge of the use, design, management and control of appropriate materials and equipment in buildings,

Making material and concrete experiments

Investigating the ground investigation studies of the buildings together with their experiments.

Having knowledge about water structures, drinking water, sewage, rain water and able to read their projects

Able to organize the construction site, prepare a work schedule, know contract management

Able to prepare quantity-discovery and progress payment

Able to use CAD design programs and package programs of static and concreting calculations of buildings

Knowing how to prepare a highway application project and road construction techniques

It aims to train construction technicians who know the design principles of steel, wood and prefabricated structures and can read and implement their projects.

Administrative Staff:

Administrative/technical personnel are 2 people in total; It consists of 1 secretary and 1 floor attendant.

Infrastructure:

Within the scope of construction laboratories; aggregate, concrete, cement, hydraulic and hydrology laboratories, soil mechanics laboratory, building models laboratory, graphic systems laboratory, topographic measurement laboratories. Our construction laboratories, located on an area of ​​500 m2, actively serve the entire construction industry in our region, especially with our technicians and department instructors in charge of soil surveys and material tests. In addition, there are 3 Computer Laboratories with a capacity of 30 students each with internet connection, a full-fledged Technical Drawing Hall, a Library and Instructor's Rooms. In the graphic systems laboratory, there are 3 workstations (3 terminals can be connected to each), one electrostatic Ao size plotter, one pen plotter, one Ao size digitizer, various printers and computers. With these systems, computer aided drawing and project services can be provided.
