Alaplı Vocational School of higher education, which continues its education and training under Zonguldak Bulent Ecevit University, was established on 14.03.1976 as "Eregli Vocational School of higher education" affiliated to the Ministry of National Education. It was affiliated to Hacettepe University Zonguldak Faculty of Engineering with the decree having force of law dated 27.07.1982 and numbered 41.

      It was settled on the campus in Alaplı on 24.05.1991 and was named "Alaplı Vocational School of higher education" affiliated to the newly established Zonguldak Karaelmas University with the Law No. 3837 dated 03.07.1992.

     The name of our university was renamed as Bulent Ecevit University in accordance with the 18th article of the law numbered 6287, which was published in the Official Gazette dated April 11, 2012 and numbered 28261.

      Finally, with the 6th article of Law No. 7141, which was published in the Official Gazette dated May 18, 2018 and numbered 30425, the phrases "Bulent Ecevit University" in the title and first paragraph of this article were changed to "Zonguldak Bulent Ecevit University".
